The windy, rainy front had finally blown through and the sky was clearing as the sun set. Breathtakingly beautiful.
Here comes that Christmas Spirit
Last night I did a Christmas decoration shoot for a downtown hotel. Up until then I had not been feeling the Christmas spirit. I was still caught up in Thanksgiving and goodness me, Christmases sure do seem to come around fast the older I get. Anyway, the sparkling lights and gifts under the tree did a lot to move me further along. This was a fun gig.

Just another Day at the Office
I wear multiple hats where I work, like many I’m sure, but the other day I got to climb the scaffolding to the steeple of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church on King Street where we have been involved in a restoration project. I was there for the purpose of documenting work that we are doing, but it was a lot of fun, and the views – ahh!
150th Anniversary of the Battle of Fort Wagner
I spent a great Saturday out at Boone Hall where a re-enactment of the Battle of Fort Wagner took place. It was to commemorate the 150th anniversary of this historic event, the Union attack on July 18, 1863, led by the 54th Massachusetts
Volunteer Infantry, one of the first major American military units made
up of black soldiers. Colonel Robert Gould Shaw led the 54th
Massachusetts on foot while they charged, and was killed in the assault. You can find many more images on my website here.

St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Renovation
I went downtown today with one of our environmental engineers to document some of the work we are doing at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. The building is currently being renovated inside and out to fix multiple problems, but it was a fascinating look at some of the inner parts of the building that one would not normally have the opportunity to access.

Downtown Charleston from the Air
We had been waiting for awhile for conditions to be right for an aerial waterfront property shoot, and Sunday was just perfect. A clear, clear day, sunny skies and a nice high tide. As soon as we are airborne I start shooting – at anything pretty much. Why not? It doesn’t cost anything and you just never know when an image might come in handy. Here are some taken of downtown Charleston.
Euphrates Eve
A departure from landscapes … This evening I had the responsibility and privilege of babysitting for my daughter and son-in-law and so one of the things I did to pass the time was to put her on the lawn on a blanket and photograph her – of course. The wind was blowing quite strongly and she loved the sensation. She is truly a precious gift.
